The Eurasier - a pure-bred dog - a family dog

A short history of Eurasiers and about the logo of the Zuchtgemeinschaft

The magnificent head of Dschu Dschu vom Weidenhof, son of Jago and Jo vom Jägerhof, from the first litter that was born in the newly founded Zuchtgemeinschaft 1973, was chosen as our logo, as it represents all our breeding aims - regarding character as well as appearance - up to the present.

Aiming to reach her high set goal, Charlotte Baldamus and her kennel "vom Jaegerhof" (active since 1960) separated from Julius Wipfel and the very first Club she had actually been a co-founder of, then named "Kynologische Zuchtgemeinschaft für Wolfs-Chow-Polarhunde Sitz Weinheim e.V.". With the assistance of the biologist Dr. Werner Schmidt and a small group of similarly minded enthusiasts, Charlotte Baldamus founded the Zuchtgemeinschaft für Eurasier in 1973.  Until she died, her influence on the ZG Eurasier population was tremendous, and - actually - her influence is still there. Eurasiers from the Jägerhof, and their precious genes, are still among today's population - though as the grand- or greatgrand-generation.

Among the three officially recognized Eurasier Clubs within the German Kennel Club VDH, the Zuchtgemeinschaft für Eurasier e.V. (ZG) is the smallest, but this has certainly no effect on the quality. The ZG was the initiator and a founding member of the "International Federation for Eurasier Breeding" (IFEZ), which clearly signalizes the responsible care for this wonderful breed on an international level. Please enjoy looking at our homepage. We hope you will be just as convinced of the results of our efforts as Konrad Lorenz once was - the best female dog he ever owned, was Nanette vom Jägerhof.
