| The Eurasier - a pure-bred dog - a family dog |
A Short Description of the Eurasier
| 1960 a new breed was created by crossing Chow-Chows
with Wolfspitzes. This breed was initially called "Wolf-Chow". After
also introducing the Samoyed in connection with the recognition of this breed by
the VDH/FCI in 1973, the name was changed to "Eurasier".
The Eurasier is a balanced, well-constructed, medium sized Spitz type dog with prick ears that comes in different colours: fawn, red, wolf-grey, black, black and tan. The coat does not need much care. The length of the coat still reveals the proportions of the body; medium bone. |

| The Eurasier is a self assured, calm, even tempered dog with a high resistance against any provocation. He is watchful and alert without being a "barker" and he is very fond of children. He is a true family dog that will naturally protect his family and home. He is reserved towards strangers, but without being timid. For the full development of these qualities the Eurasier needs a constant close contact with his family combined with an understanding, yet consistent training. A Eurasier should not be kept chained up or in a kennel. Because he has his very own personality, he is not suitable to undergo working trials, but he fully enjoys all kinds of sports such as agility, cross-country, etc. He is happy to join in activities with his family and will learn easily and with much pleasure, but he dislikes any kind of drill. | |
