Jubiläumsausgabe der Eurasier-Nachrichten Nr. 4/1998 zum 25jährigen Jubiläum der Zuchtgemeinschaft für Eurasier e.V. |
Written (in German) for all
those, who would like to know more about the very early history of the
breed - Eurasier - and who would like to learn more about the first
enthusiastic people who worked together in developing this breed.
With quite a bit of humour, this booklet describes the difficult formation of the Club Zuchtgemeinschaft für Eurasier, with all the problems it entailed concerning breeding and human interaction. All those of you interested in the historical development and creation of the Eurasier, in connection with many typical photos in full colour, will cherish this edition that was printed for the 25th year anniversary of the Zuchtgemeinschaft für Eurasier. Citations of those people, who were decisively involved in the creation of the Eurasier we know today, are included. In first line, of course, Charlotte Baldamus, but also Julius Wipfel, and Konrad Lorenz, as well as Eberhard Trumler, who was happy to provide the Zuchtgemeinschaft with his canine knowledge and experience. The booklet also deals with the sometimes - harmonic and sometimes less harmonic - cooperation with other Eurasier Clubs; it also deals with the discrepancies between the own set aims for breeding and those of international Organisations. Also the problems are pointed out that can arise when the aims in breeding do not correspond with the achieved result, which is something that can happen - despite very careful choices - and which will happen again and again. (M.P.) Sorry, no longer available You can find much information on our website, including an indepth article about the history of the dog breed Eurasier: Origins and History of Eurasiers by Alfred Mueller (ZG)

Der Wolf im Hundepelz. Hundeerziehung aus einer anderen Perspektive.
Westkreuz-Verlag Bad Münstereifel 1998 |
Translated from the cover text: "Successful dog training primarily means correctly understood communication. Dogs communicate with humans in many different ways. Perhaps humans often do not understand them, because - despite their elaborate language - it is not seldom that humans are not able to communicate with their own species?!" "I would like to thank all free wolves and coyotes out there, who let me observe them. Hi guys, you opened my eyes. Never again will I grab a puppy by the scruff and shake it. Sorry, dear mother wolves. I should have watched you better and much earlier and should have imitated your behaviour correctly." |

Translated from the cover text: "With this new book I am entering a 'fresh field' so to speak, as there are hardly any behavioural studies about "dog" strategies for adapting to a modern household ... I would therefore like to give the readers advice and tips as to how at least most dogs can be integrated into a modern household relatively easily (because they are controlled by foreseeing things in advance), without constantly having to give them commands. Not 'disturbed' Dangerous Dogs are the root of all evil, but the deep and manifold changes in our modern society." |

Kynos Verlag Mürlenbach Eifel 2001
(English version: The Technique of Breeding Better Dogs. Methods pf breeding for outstanding health, intelligence and overall conformation and beauty). |
Short review by Alfred Müller:
The author of this book draws his experience from half a century of experience in breeding. While there may be a few points the ZG disapproves of (e.g. keeping dogs in kennels), the book is an invaluable source of information. The science and the systems of good management are presented in depth. With the help of this superb reference, breeders can supervise a mating, care for their males and/or females, rear puppies like an expert, and plan a breeding programme .... |

There is plenty of literature about dogs. But not many authors understand to describe dogs and their character in such a picturesque way. Konrad Lorenz writes about how he thinks the first encounters between man and dog might have happened. One theory of many - but always thrilling and captivating for all readers. |

Puppies need Puppy Play Days as a Substitute
for their Siblings and as a Gentle Early Learning Programme
Translated from the cover text: Prof. Dr. K. Loeffler: "... After a young dog is separated from its mother, its siblings and the typical influences of this species, it should not be isolated, with the only focus on its owner, but it should rather grow up together with other members of its species and humans, so that it can grow into a society in which it is self-confident, but not dominant, trusting, not shy, as well as reliable in behaviour and can be counted on... The early learning programm of the Puppy Play Days makes use of the sensitive phases in which puppies learn especially fast and effective, and this training programme is done by playing." |

Translated from the cover text of the 9th edition:
There are around three million dog owners in Germany - how many of these really know their four-legged house-member? With this book, Eberhard Trumler contributed decisively towards the understanding of dogs. He concentrates in this book on the development of behaviour in young dogs and their training. Healthy social behaviour is a precondition for a happy and harmonious cohabitation of humans and their dogs. The book focuses on group-building behaviour and important aspects of the human-dog-relationship. |

Translated from the cover text: After Konrad Lorenz had written the book in which he documented a year in the life of gray-lag geese in 1978, Eberhard Trumler and his son Dietmar Mundo decided they wanted to create something similar for nature bound dog friends. Trumler emphasized on family life, especially the development of young dogs and documented this with photos... Trumler and Mundo succeeded in making unique photos of behaviour that - up to then - had only ever been described in words. They also made photos of such behaviour that was even new to the observers. Chronologically, the development of the puppies' body and mind is pictured from their birth all through their first year, whereby especially the social interaction between the pack members is given priority... |

Trumler, Eberhard |
Ein Hund wird geboren Kynos Verlag Mürlenbach/Eifel 1992 |
Trumler, an expert on animal behaviour and a biologist, documents in this book how and why matings and the rearing and raising of puppies should function naturally - without human interference (but, of course, with the proper care). An invaluable contrast programme for breeders of pure-bred dogs! Often enough in breeding, by overestimating the "show quality" of modern pure-bred dogs, emphasis is given to wrong things. In this book, responsible breeders will find lots of valuable material to think about and to incorporate in their own breeding. Trumler is an advocate for only breeding such dogs that are capable of having normal matings and births. |
