VON DER VARBROOKER HEIDE (18 November 2003)

On the 59th day of her pregnancy, Catla decided it is time for her puppies to be born: 3 males and 4 females within 1 1/2 hours, quite a masterpiece. The birth weights were between 320 and 410 g. Mother and puppies are doing fine, so are the breeders! We will stay in touch and keep reporting about these new puppies.

Meanwhile you could read a slightly different birth report ...

Day 6: Our eyes are still closed - but we have noses !

The first inspection of the litter - a very important event within the first few days:

... so that's how you spell my name???                  Hey - that tickles me pink!                          I'm through - now I'll take a break

After a thorough inspection, Mrs Birgit Ahmann (one of the Breed Inspectors of the ZG) is convinced: This is a magnificent litter and the future owners can happily look forward to getting one of these puppies. Catla is not surprised at all, as she knew that all the while!

Day 15 - the eyes are open: "Interesting, so that's what our dog world looks like"

Final Inspection by Birgit Ahmann (Breed Inspector) on 11 Jan 2004

All is fine. The puppies have everything as should be: ears, teeth, nose, paws and even the typical Eurasier tail

We are very happy that - thanks to the dedicated work of Christa Stuhr, responsible for puppy placement - all our puppies found excellent homes. This makes saying good-bye to the puppies much easier, although we will certainly shed a lot of tears. These puppies have brought a lot of excitement into our lives, and we enjoyed having them. It is a good feeling to know that they will be loved and well cared for. We wish all new owners that they have received a true dog companion for many happy years together and we hope to see "our" little ones again every now and then.

Who are these little personalities and where are they going to live.

The first born: Arthus was born on 18th November 2003 at 6.30 p.m., accompanied by a big outcry of his mom Catla. He weighed 400 grams and was immediately lively and started to look for Mommy's teets. Concerning his character, one can say from his short life up to now, that he looks at everything with great interest, thinks about things and then tries them out. He has remained to be rather autonomous, but likes to be in contact with his siblings and also likes to engage in play fights with them. But he can also find a lot of things to do on his own. We think it is fantastic that he is moving only a few villages further down to really nice people, who already have another Eurasier.

No. 2: Asrha joined her brother 10 minutes later, at 6.40 p.m., and was born with 410 grams. Her birth was a bit easier for Catla, for now she knew what was happening and what to do. Asrha's character can be described as even-tempered. Often she lets the others go first, she is very cuddly and seeks human attention. But when she is active, she can really be a little whirlwind and loves to play lively outdoors. Her new owners visited us when Asrha was about three weeks old. Immediately, Asrha was fascinated by them. There was nothing better for her than to lie on her new owner's arms and to be cuddled. Still remembering that picture of her, we are certain that she will have a good life there and be well cared for.

No. 3: Waiting for Amadeus did not take long. He arrived at 6.50 p.m. with 350 grams. He was born just they way that suits his character: unspectacular. He is a totally relaxed and even-tempered little male, who proves to be a bit of a clown at times, as he makes everybody laugh. He is, if you can say this of a dog, funny. Outdoors he likes to run and play with his siblings. But he also seeks human attention and wants to be cuddled on a regular basis. Amadeus is going to a family that likes to travel. Already this summer he will get to know a boat. We could not find out, if he will suffer from sea-sickness, but Eurasiers are known to be very adaptable.

No. 4: Alhambra. After Catla had a short break while giving birth, the red "fortress" was born at 7.15 p.m. Alhambra developed from a chubby little red puppy to an elegant and beautiful girl. She is very lively, enjoys playing with her siblings, loves to run and is always busy with something. To her understanding, life is a wonderful challenge, and she does not turn away when her siblings quarrel, sometimes she even starts these quarrels. But she can also purr like an innocent little kitten. Alhambra is going to a very nice family with three children, and surely she will add some more action there.

No. 5: Eight minutes later A-Fenja was swooshed into this world by a small contraction. In relation to the other siblings, she only weighed 320 grams, but she quickly began to work on her weight and it did not take long until she weighed just as much as the others. Concerning her character, the following can be said: She never starts a quarrel, and she just loves to play with her siblings. Then again she is a bit reserved, but loves to cuddle, and when she looks at people with her true little eyes, everybody just melts. Fenja is going to a person who had this dream of a dog in mind for a long time and surely she will now make this dream come true. Also, his friend with a Yorkshire is waiting for her, so that she will not be alone and can live in accordance to her temperament.

No. 6: Ares, the fluffy fur ball, was born at 7.00 p.m. with 400 grams. From the beginning, he must have been convinced that weight counts and he accumulated more and more of it. From the start, he remained to stay the heaviest puppy of all. And whenever there was a quarrel, he just shouldered the others and won. Ares is a witty and funny little character, who already catches attention due to his furry look. He gets along brilliantly with the others and is always ready for any new game. He is going to a nice couple, who are "Eurasier-experienced". Immediately they had fallen in love with Ares. And, during their very first visit, he had even greeted them personally at the door. That goes to show that dogs really do have great instincts.

No. 7: Assi was born last at the Varbrooker Heide, at 8.15 p.m. But she quickly made up for the slight head start of the others due to her cleverness and liveliness, and so the others had to immediately take notice of her. She grew into a lively little "running mouse", who can wrap anybody around her little paws with her charming eyes to cuddle her and she fully enjoys that. Being the last born, she was also the last to find a new home. But fate was on her side and an international family (an American-French family with three children who now live in Belgium) with a Eurasier male are going to take her into their family. According to her temperament, she will certainly find enough entertainment and love there.
