The "Welpenvermittlung der ZG" - our lady in charge for placing the puppies - does her very best to find good homes for the puppies that have been bred in accordance with ZG rules. And she really does find good homes. But this cannot be guaranteed (up to now she did find a good home for each and every puppy bred within the ZG).
The changing situation on the "puppy market" does not spare the Eurasier. The number of people interested in pure bred dogs is diminishing (this is not only the case for the Eurasier!).
The resaons for this: The "Anti-Dog" fraction in society is increasing, the "Dangerous Dog Debate", money is becoming scarce, but also the "wildbreeders" are booming and uncontrollable - the Eurasier has been discovered as a profitable "market gap". Many puppies (from uncontrolled breeders) are thrown on the market, and these do not necessarily promote the good reputation of the breed, because they are often not typical for the breed or they are not very healthy, etc.
Increasingly, the buyers of puppies are no longer willing to wait a long time for their puppy. They sign up for the waiting lists of several Clubs, even for several different breeds and then take the first dog on offer. Persons interested in a puppy who have been looked at carefully through many members of a Club - the most preferred method of every breeder - are getting less. We must take this into consideration.
Placing puppies has been a service to our breeders offered through the ZG, and our breeders value this service. We do not want to change this. Up to now we could always find a good home for every puppy. But this is not an obligation and it cannot be taken for granted.
Every breeder must be prepared to place one or the other puppy on his own, if the waiting list turns out to be too short (the ZG will give advice, if necessary), or to keep one or the other puppy a few days longer if the new owner wishes.
