Young and old met in beautiful weather for the annual meeting on the Eisenberg - also to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of the Zuchtgemeinschaft für Eurasier e.V. |

Friday afternoon started with sports - the Eurasier-Olympics:

Ina von Allwörden had organised and built up a challenging agility course and everybody was happy to have a go. It was obvious that all were having lots of fun and the two- and fourlegged couples eagerly mastered the obstacles with ease. Tiny morsels of cheese and written certificates as a lasting memory could be earned and so the stadion was busy all through the day.

| After a refreshing and delicious meal at the Hotel-Restaurant Eisenberg, all participants were ready for the night walk that Elke Schäfer had prepared. It was pitch-dark and flash-lights flared up here and there - but all this was no problem for our Eurasiers, as they guided their families safely through the difficult landscape. |

On the second day the ZG members were greeted with low hanging clouds and lots of "moisture in the air". It took a short discussion of the ZG Board, and they soon had the weather under control as the sun came out, the sky was blue, just in time for the presentation of the Eurasiers. |
| Gisela Aach - Head of the Breeding Board -
attracted the full attention of all with her presentation of Eurasiers.
She introduced all present Eurasiers, the young ones, the middle-aged ones
and the senior ones. Then she gathered different Eurasier families in the
ring and covered the whole range of Eurasiers in the ZG breeding. She also
explained what has been achieved throughout the many years of breeding in
the ZG in various Eurasiers.
Of course not only "the own soup was stirred", everybody was very interested to hear about the cooperation of the ZG with the EKW and the "Swiss division". |

At last (seen from a dog's point of view), it was time for the traditional walk in lovely autumn weather. "Off the lead" and humans and dogs enjoyed the hike on the Eisenberg and the wonderful landscape. Our Eurasiers played, romped, jumped and ran to their hearts delight - our breed is simply classic and fantastic!

A hearty meal at the Hotel-Restaurant Eisenberg recharged the batteries and the formal part of the annual meeting was next on the agenda. By the way, the formal part was not "formal" at all as there were so many interesting highlights.

The Chairman - Jürgen Wittstruck - covered the past year within the ZG Club in a review, thanked "Old and New" active members for their honorary work and also addressed the 30 years of the Zuchtgemeinschaft für Eurasier. The name "Zuchtgemeinschaft" (the logo is now legally protected) is not just a name, but a commitment, a community in the real sense of the word "Zuchtgemeinschaft = breeding community" to give each other advice and support in words and deeds. |
In addition to the many interesting things within the ZG Club, Jürgen Wittstruck also addressed the growing cooperation with other Eurasier Clubs (International Federation for Eurasier Breeding, IFEZ), and reported that the Danish Eurasier Friends will soon be associated with the IFEZ. He also turned to rather critical points, such as the German equivalent to the Dangerous Dog Act, which is due to be dealt with by the Highest German Court. The German Kennel Club VDH and the Zuchtgemeinschaft declared their solidarity with the 90 appeals and hope that this will help to find a reasonable and sensible solution for all concerned. "Usually the problem is not at the end of the lead, but in the front".
Gisela Aach's report, she is the Head of the Breeding Board, covered the timespan from October 2002 to October 2003 and was highly informative for all those Eurasier owners interested in breeding (see also the monthly reports of the Head of the Breeding Board in the Breeders' Corner. Very important for the success in breeding is the feedback of Eurasier owners about positive characteristics, but also about any illnesses. Inspite of all careful planning, assessment of character and veterinary check-ups, Eurasiers and their litters remain a "good part of nature" and this is the way it should stay in the Zuchtgemeinschaft.
The happy "product" of our efforts - our puppies - were all placed and referred by Christa Stuhr again this year and she deserves a special thank you for this important work. The importance of placing the right puppy with the right owners should not be underestimated, as this is the actual foundation for a successful and happy community on behalf of our Eurasiers.

Elke Schäfer, the Club Executive, reported that the positive development of the past years has continued and that we have had the highest number of members since 1993 this year. The report concerning Club finances (Claudia Gall) followed, as did the report of those who checked the finances and found the book-keeping accurate and without complaints. The active members of the Board were all elected again. And with this the official part of the annual meeting ended. |
| Next came a lecture by Alfred Müller concerning the history of Eurasiers. He closely combined the origins and the development of the breed with the ideas and the actions of the most important persons (Konrad Lorenz, Julius Wipfel, Charlotte Baldamus). This overall view was not only very interesting for the "breed specialists", but it was clear and vivid for all. Visual and audio documents from the very first beginnings were included. Especially in view of the actual breeding today, constantly looking for the ideal in breeding, it seems even more important to keep the beginnings of the Eurasier in view, so that the indepth knowledge and the clear and far reaching ideas of Charlotte Baldamus are not lost. In cooperation with Alfred Müller, this homepage found a way to supply this lecture to those interested in this subject. See the link above. | ![]() |

Puppy-Info quite differently this time. Family Stein had a special treat for us in the evening. The female's heat, Eurasier marriage, pregnancy, birth, feeding and caring for the puppies were explained in words, but also by means of a video by Mr Stein, who titled this lecture:" Whatever survives in your garden, is suitable for puppies". But this was not all, everybody could test their knowledge by filling in a questionnaire throughout the lecture. Everybody fully enjoyed this lecture, the video sequences and the questionaire, they were presented well by Mr Stein and he spiced the facts with good humour. Most certainly this lecture will remain in good memories. |
All in all, this was a very enjoyable and special annual meeting, and Birgit Ahmann spontaneously wrote into our Guestbook :
A big THANK YOU to the people who organized the "30 years of Zuchtgemeinschaft für Eurasier" and for a successful and memorable weekend! I am just back from the event without even having been in a traffic jam! and I am still under the wonderful impression of this super event!
